Gun Control? or Mental Illness?

Friday’s horrific national tragedy — the murder of 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut — has ignited a new discussion on violence in America. In kitchens and coffee shops across the country, we tearfully debate the many faces of violence in America: gun culture, media violence, lack of mental health services, overt and covert wars abroad, religion, politics and the way we raise our children. Foreign Policy by Robin Williams

Robin Williams recently presented his take on foreign policy and I got a little chuckle out of it.  The funny part is that most of his points do make quite a bit of sense.  Here it is:
‘I see a lot of people yelling for peace but I have not heard of a plan for peace. So, here’s one plan.’
1) ‘The US, UK , CANADA , New Zealand and AUSTRALIA will apologize to the world for our ‘interference’ in their affairs, past & present. You know, Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Tojo, Noriega, Milosevic, Hussein, and the rest of those ‘good ‘ole’ boys’, we will never ‘interfere’ again. (read more)

College Football Kickoff

As College Football kicked off last night I could only think about one thing (until I saw Kent State’s Andre Parker’s funniest play we’ll see all year), and that is “I really hope someone, ANYONE other than an SEC team wins it all this year.  They’ve already won 6 times in a row leaving many to call it a dynasty and I’m tired of it. Borders Books

With one of the longest weekends of the year upon us, I decided Wednesday that this weekend I was not going to work on getting things done, and instead I would relax and maybe pick up a book and read.  It reminded me of something that has been bothering me for months now.  When Boarders Books announced that they would be closing their retail locations nationwide I was shocked.
